Sterile Processing Technician

**Description** PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $22.56 - $33.48. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. **This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.** **Job Summary** Responsible for operating autoclaves and other equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment, including power equipment as applicable. Also responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays and packs. **Essential Functions** + Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases. + Re-stocking inventory. + Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies. + Operate a variety of sterilization equipment. + Clean and maintain department equipment. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Education** + High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent **Experience** + Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician **Credentials** + Required: within 1 Year Natl Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD or other nationally recognized certifying body and **Skills** + Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required) + Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required) **Department / Location Specific Notes** Peace Harbor Medical Center - Florence: + A minimum of three (3) months' experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) month's experience in other medical related role. + Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required. + Must be able to manage conflict effectively and professionally. + Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on meeting time sensitive deadlines. + Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills. **Working Conditions** Lifting + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently. + Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs. + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force. + Reaching frequently. + Squat/ kneel occasionally. Environmental Conditions + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Mental/Visual + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
