Position Overview
A school district in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation, intervention, and communication support services to students during the 2026–2027 school year.
The selected clinician will work collaboratively with educators, families, administrators, and special education professionals to address students’ speech, language, and communication needs. Final caseload and school assignments will be determined according to district needs and candidate experience.

Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communicative Disorders, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
• Valid Professional Educator Certification
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and educational requirements related to students with disabilities
• Understanding of pediatric and adolescent cognitive and physical development
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools used to assess students with communication and learning needs
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Credentials
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
• Active Alabama Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology licensure
• Previous pediatric or school-based experience
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Primary Responsibilities
• Conduct speech and language evaluations, assessments, and screenings
• Interpret assessment data and identify students’ communication needs
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and measurable IEP goals
• Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services
• Monitor student progress and modify interventions when appropriate
• Collaborate with teachers, families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in IEP, eligibility, and student-support meetings
• Maintain accurate documentation and service records
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements

Screening & Credentialing Requirements
• Successful completion of all district onboarding requirements
• Background check and fingerprint clearance as required by Alabama and the district
• Verification of education, professional certification, and applicable licensure
• Internal eligibility interview
