Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile professional with experience in structural steel fabrication who can contribute as a Cost Estimator, Shop Manager, or Project Manager depending on background and strengths. This role will play a key part in project planning, execution, and overall operational success.

Key Responsibilities (Depending on Role):

Estimating:

• Review construction drawings and specifications to prepare accurate material and labor estimates
• Perform steel takeoffs using Structural Material Manager and/or Tekla PowerFab
• Develop cost breakdowns and schedules of values for bidding and billing

Project Management:

• Coordinate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure project success
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
• Oversee subcontractors and ensure adherence to scope and schedule

Shop Management:

• Oversee daily fabrication shop operations and workflow
• Manage production schedules, labor efficiency, and quality control
• Ensure safety standards and fabrication best practices are followed

General:

• Collaborate with sales and preconstruction teams to support bidding efforts
• Maintain and update historical cost data and production metrics

Qualifications:

• 3–10 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, estimating, project management, or shop operations
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
• Experience with Structural Material Manager, Tekla PowerFab, or similar tools is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AISC standards
• Background in steel detailing or fabrication operations
• Familiarity with construction scheduling or project management software
