A rapidly expanding veterinary compounding pharmacy seeks a dedicated Staff Pharmacist with a passion for animal patient care. This local, temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in equine or veterinary compounding, including new graduates eager to grow in this specialized field. Play a pivotal leadership role guiding pharmacy technicians and ensuring the highest standards in prescription processing and formulary management.

Location: Cullman, AL
Employment Type: Contract (Temp-to-Hire)
Start Date: Immediate

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians, fostering efficient teamwork
• Verify prescriptions and manage daily pharmacy workflow to maintain seamless operations
• Oversee review and management of 25–30 regularly reordered formularies, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Ensure adherence to pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to optimize daily operations and patient care
• Assist with inventory and operational oversight as needed
• Maintain a strong focus on delivering outstanding care for animal patients

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active Pharmacist license meeting state requirements
• Experience in equine or veterinary/animal compounding (human compounding experience alone is insufficient)
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities with a commitment to quality
• Excellent work ethic, quick learner, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
• Passionate about following procedures and providing exceptional care to animal patients

Technology & Environment:

• Utilize PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing
• Transitioning to Pharmetica pharmacy system soon
• Pharmacy processes primarily non-sterile compounding, shipping 200+ prescriptions daily
• Collaborative team of four pharmacists, each overseeing several technicians
