Position Overview: As the Service Manager for Wilks retail store in Decatur, AL, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of our tire and automotive repair shop and working alongside technicians as needed. Your leadership will ensure high-quality service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while fostering a positive work environment. You will lead and motivate a team of technicians, oversee the execution of service work, and manage workflow to ensure smooth shop operations. Additionally, you will fill in at the front service counter when needed to interact directly with customers, handle service inquiries, and assist with sales.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of tire technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
• Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team knowledge, skills, and productivity.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance within the shop.
• Manage employee performance, providing constructive feedback and addressing any challenges.

Operational Excellence:

• Oversee the daily operation of the service shop to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of customer orders.
• Prioritize and assign jobs to technicians based on skill level and urgency.
• Ensure all repair and tire service procedures are performed according to manufacturer and safety standards.
• Monitor inventory levels for tire stock, automotive parts, and equipment; place orders as necessary.

Customer Service & Sales:

• Assist at the front service counter as needed, interacting with customers to understand their service needs and provide accurate quotes.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude when handling customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints.
• Promote additional services and sales, identifying opportunities to meet customer needs while enhancing revenue.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring all services meet or exceed expectations.

Quality Control & Safety:

• Monitor the quality of work performed by the technicians, ensuring repairs and installations are accurate and efficient.
• Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular shop inspections to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate records of service orders, work performed, inventory usage, and employee hours.
• Report directly to the Store Manager or operations manager on shop performance, employee issues, and customer feedback.
• Assist with budgeting and cost management to optimize shop profitability.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an automotive repair or tire service shop, with at least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both customers and employees.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Knowledge of automotive repair, tire services, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Certifications & Training:
  • ASE Certification (Automotive Service Excellence) is preferred.
  • Prior training in leadership, customer service, and technical skills.
  • Ability to train and coach staff on new automotive technologies and best practices.
