Job Description

As a Transportation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in planning, designing, and implementing traffic/transportation solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You’ll work closely with state and city planners, civil engineers, and public stakeholders to develop data-driven strategies that support Alabama's growing infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative traffic operations and planning efforts that improve mobility and safety across urban and regional networks. 

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic/transportation impact studies and operational analyses
• Design and review traffic signal systems, signage, and pavement markings
• Collaborate on transportation planning and corridor studies
• Utilize transportation software 
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients and agencies
• Support public engagement efforts and respond to community concerns

Qualifications

Minimium:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field 
• 4 years of experience in traffic engineering or related field and demonstrasted equivalency of experience and/or education
• Experience and proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation, OpenRoads or similar applications or various traffic simulation software applications such as: Synchro, VISSIM, TransModeler, and HCS or similar applications

Preferred: 

• Master's degree in civil engineering or related field 
• PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months
• Experience with ALDOT or other state DOT transportation projects
