Position Summary
A leading organization in the food production and distribution industry is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their dynamic team in Opelika, Alabama. Core Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts to ensure full coverage and operational readiness
- Develop and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all production machinery, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and lead troubleshooting efforts to restore production with minimal downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories using a computerized maintenance management system
- Collaborate closely with production managers and quality assurance teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules and food safety requirements
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, GMP standards, and all applicable food safety and environmental guidelines
- Manage maintenance department budgets, including tracking labor costs, spare parts inventory, and contractor expenses
- Coordinate and oversee the work of outside contractors and vendors for specialized repair and installation projects
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safe work practices throughout the maintenance team
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, equipment upgrades, and energy efficiency enhancements across the facility
- Minimum of five years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or food production environment
- At least two years of supervisory or team lead experience managing maintenance personnel
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with PLC systems and basic automation troubleshooting is strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of OSHA safety regulations and GMP compliance requirements
- Experience working with CMMS software for work order management and maintenance tracking
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies and provide on-call support as needed
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree in a related field is preferred
- Competitive salary ranging from $63,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
