Position: Neurosurgeon – General
Location: Dothan, Alabama

This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The flagship medical center is a 420-bed regional referral hub serving over 460,000 residents. It is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Chest Pain Center, and also operates the region’s only Level III NICU and inpatient pediatric unit.

Position SummaryThe facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Neurosurgeon to join its growing neurosurgery program in Dothan, Alabama.
This role includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, with a focus on evaluating and surgically treating a wide range of neurological conditions. The neurosurgeon will work closely with neurologists, intensivists, trauma teams, and other specialists in a collaborative, high-acuity environment.
The group is open to 2026 Neurosurgery residents/fellows as well as experienced neurosurgeons.
Essential Position Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and surgically treat disorders of the brain, spine, and nervous system
- Perform a range of neurosurgical procedures including cranial and spinal surgeries
- Manage traumatic brain injuries, spinal disorders, tumors, and degenerative conditions
- Provide inpatient consultations, surgical care, and post-operative management
- Participate in on-call coverage for neurosurgical emergencies
- Collaborate with neurology, trauma, ICU, and rehabilitation teams for comprehensive care
- Review and interpret diagnostic imaging including CT, MRI, and other studies
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices
Education
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
- Completion of a Neurosurgery residency
Licensure & Certification
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery
- Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license
- Current BLS/ACLS required

- Experienced neurosurgeons also encouraged to apply
