Salary: Starting Salary: $55,000/year
Position Summary
The Jr Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical, electrical, and system components to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve engineering challenges, support product development, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position will include design, 2d and 3d modeling, and hands on prototyping.
Responsibilities

- Design and develop mechanical, electrical, or system components to meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Adhere to company revision and configuration management process.
- Conduct system modeling and testing to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to support production and ensure design for manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and MIL-STD-973
- Follow company quality and safety standards
- Maintain technical documentation, including specifications and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Support new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and support business objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Must be a U.S. citizen and meet any other federal program requirements (CUI and ITAR).
- Proficient in Creo/Pro-E and Windchill, will consider SolidWorks experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, system integration, and analysis techniques.
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations, such as ASME, ISO, and MIL-STD.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Strong hands-on prototyping skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze design issues both in prototyping and production environments
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Engineering or Mechanical Technology, or a related field is required.
- Will consider non-degreed, if relevant work experience acceptable to meet job qualifications
- 0-4 years of experience, with a focus on design, development, or manufacturing.
Physical Requirements
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods standing and working in R&D lab building prototypes utilizing an array of different mechanical and electrical tools.
