Position Overview

As a Substitute Special Education Aide , you will assist teachers and staff in providing a supportive learning environment for students with special needs. You will be responsible for fostering student engagement, ensuring their safety, and adapting to varying behaviors and academic requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students individually or in group settings with classwork.
• Assist teachers and staff with daily activities.
• Escort or accompany students to different school activities as needed.
• Adapt to students’ unique and changing behavioral and educational needs.
• Be open to assisting new students with varying needs as they arise.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while representing the school and program.
• Follow all school policies and Spur guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience working with children, either individually or in a group setting.
• Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain a State of Alabama Background Check ($48.00 fee).
• Completion of required online training before starting.
• Must wear business casual attire in alignment with school guidelines.
• Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
• Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (varies by location)
• Work Period: Follows the school calendar when classes are in session
