MDS Architecture Engineer

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for an MDS Architecture Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Support the Missile Defense Agency’s Advanced Architectures Design (MDA/CAD) office working to define the future of Missile Defense through development, analysis, and communication of future Regional Missile Defense Architectures.
• Coordinate and assist in the development of joint architectures addressing regional missile defense against ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile threats to protect Warfighters and allies.
• Develop and coordinate comprehensive regional missile defense courses of action (COA) for future architectures to defeat evolving threats.
• Prepare and deliver briefings and supporting data in support of Architecture Review Panels (ARP).
• Assist with identifying, defining, and prioritizing missile defense architecture gaps, challenges, needs, opportunities, and potential system mitigations.
• Develop regional missile defense Blue Force and Red Force laydowns as well as intel-informed raid scenarios using a pacing threat set.
• Develop measures of effectiveness and architecture needs statements, and coordinate iterative analysis on these architectures.
• Analyze and document the performance of architecture options and future concepts implemented in these scenarios.
• Assist in the development of top-level architecture needs documentation to support requirements development, as well as the acquisition of new capabilities and prototypes.
• Develop and review technical memorandums, white papers, and briefings supporting findings and conclusions of analyses.
• Support working groups and technical interchange meetings to coordinate across the community on a variety of topics to include Future concepts, architecture needs, and data exchange.
• Provide regular input in support of government leadership to reports and weekly charts involving task status, action item tracking, risks, and schedule.
• Plan and execute projects involving prime contractors, other MDA offices, and FFRDC/UARC partners.
• Support the evaluation of future architecture elements and technology enablers that support ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile defense.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• BA/BS in STEM field.
• Minimum of 7+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD programs/projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
• Able to work independently and/or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems.
• Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Missile Defense Systems (MDS) components, architectures, and concepts.
• Familiarity and past experience with MDA and/or other complex MDS Elements.
• Working knowledge of Systems Engineering processes, including Model-Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering strategies.
• Experience in a military operational environment.
• Work independently, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to self-manage and initiate within the team structure.
• Ability to decompose complex problems into actionable elements.
• Ability to coordinate efforts in a timely manner across multiple organizations.
• Ability to present complex information and concepts to leaders at various levels.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Preferred Navy veteran that held a position such as an Aegis Weapon System EDO or Joint Interface Control Officer, or alternatively an Army/Air Force veteran that understands MDS Elements such as THAAD/LTAMDS/Sentinel/ PATRIOT/GMD.
