Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $40.14 - Midpoint: $54.18 (Hourly N13)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm; nights weekends and shift work as required.

Job Summary: The Elevator Technician Lead performs highly skilled work in the Elevator Maintenance shop. Installs repairs and performs maintenance of a wide variety of elevators and elevator equipment. Supervises instructs trains mentors advises supports and assists other Elevator Technicians and Elevator Repair Apprentices. Drives drive from site to site.

Additional Department Summary: Must be able to be on call be accessible by phone when on call and report to work within one hour after being called. Must work shift work and overtime as scheduled.

Required Minimum Qualifications: National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) Certified Elevator Technician (CET) and two (2) years of experience in the troubleshooting repair and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical operations of elevators and lifts including performing hydraulic and electrically driven elevator upgrades and redesigning old equipment that cannot be repaired due to obsolete parts; OR high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience in the troubleshooting repair and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical operations of elevators and lifts including performing hydraulic and electrically driven elevator upgrades and redesigning old equipment that cannot be repaired due to obsolete parts. If not a CET at the time of employment must successfully complete the NAEC CET application and become CET certified within two (2) years of employment. Within six (6) months of becoming a CET must become a Certified Elevator Technician-Supervisor (CET-S). Must complete required Continuing Education Units each year to maintain/renew CET license. Must be licensed by the State of Alabama as an Elevator Mechanic or able to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire. Must have valid U.S. drivers license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to operate and use various tools of the trade in completion of work tasks. Ability to read interpret and troubleshoot blueprints drawings manuals maps schematics and plans. Ability to do material takeoffs. Good people skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Good written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications: A current Certified Elevator Technician Supervisor certification (CET-S) recognized by the National Association of Elevator Contractors. A current Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification recognized by the National Association of Elevator Contractors. One (1) year of experience as a supervisor or project lead in a maintenance-related field.
