Scheduler
Genesis Technical is seeking a Conceptual Scheduler for a large Engineering firm in Birmingham, Alabama. This position is contract with the possibility of going direct after 6 months.
Skills and Experience:
Individual will serve as the lead scheduler on large industrial projects, with a strong emphasis on conceptual planning and earlyphase schedule development.
- Will develop conceptual and detailed schedules in collaboration with the project team and trade partners.
- Will monitor projects in accordance with established departmental scheduling procedures.
- Will manage the input, analysis, and tracking of design deliverables, procurement timelines, and construction schedules.
- Will prepare internal and external reports that clearly communicate project schedule status and key performance metrics.
- Work will involve applying advanced planning, scheduling, and cost-control methodologies, requiring evaluation, analysis, and modification of established standards to support project problem-solving.
- Produce high-level conceptual schedules with limited initial information to support team discussions, planning workshops, and refinement sessions.
- Maintain a database of expected schedule durations by activity as well as overall project durations to support conceptual estimating.
- Develop baseline schedules using well-defined, logically sequenced activities aligned with project execution strategies.
- Oversee all project scheduling activities and provide necessary schedule updates, forecasts, and progress reporting.
- Develop project schedule layouts and alternate schedule scenarios in collaboration with the project team, ensuring accurate progress measurement.
- Review and critique vendor and subcontractor monthly schedule updates.
- Verify that schedule updates reflect actual progress in the field.
- Understand the flow, logistics, and sequencing required for successful project execution from concept through completion.
- Support ongoing projects by working directly with the project manager and discipline leads to assess status, identify risks, and highlight opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend mitigation strategies and work-around plans to maintain schedule integrity.
- Lead project Pull Planning meetings to drive team alignment and sequencing clarity.
- Perform other duties as requested by project management.
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.
- 7–10 years of industrial or commercial construction experience preferred, with demonstrated conceptual scheduling capabilities.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP cost management tools.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; highly detail-oriented.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Broad knowledge of construction disciplines and industrial project execution methods.
