This contract position plays an important part in fostering accessible, inclusive learning for students who count on your expertise every day. Collaborate closely with school and district teams as a valued Hearing Impaired Teacher, ensuring students have the tools they need to thrive academically and personally.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements (or willingness to do so within required timeframe)
• All necessary licensure for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in Alabama
• Previous experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students strongly preferred
• Sound communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills

What You'll Do:

• Provide direct and consultative instructional support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across K-12 settings
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs), tailoring instruction to student needs
• Support general educators and staff by offering guidance on accessible classroom strategies
• Collaborate regularly with parents, staff, and service providers to design enriching educational opportunities
• Champion student inclusion and promote self-advocacy and independence
• Remain engaged with current best practices in Deaf Education
