Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney – Birmingham, AL
Established law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney to join its growing insurance practice in Birmingham, Alabama. This opportunity is ideal for a litigation attorney looking to take on meaningful responsibility, work closely with clients and partners, and continue developing a long-term career within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and prepare coverage opinions involving CGL, professional liability, property, and excess/umbrella policies.
- Handle insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions, bad faith claims, and other coverage disputes in state and federal courts.
- Advise and defend insurers in complex coverage matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and coverage-related correspondence.
- Conduct depositions, prepare witnesses, and assist with trials and arbitrations.
- Partner with the broader litigation team on insurance defense and commercial litigation matters.
- Provide strategic guidance to clients regarding coverage issues and risk management.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active Alabama Bar admission (or ability to obtain admission promptly).
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience with a strong emphasis on insurance coverage matters.
- Experience drafting coverage opinions and litigating coverage disputes.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple matters effectively and thrive in a collaborative environment.
