Sales Associate

FUNCTION : Create a professional and pleasant atmosphere in assigned department; ensure smooth operation of department policies, procedures, and paperwork; and maintain personal sales volume.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures friendly customer service with a smile in assigned area.

2. Promotes the opening of charge accounts and gift card purchases.

3. Understands and carries out all company policies and selling floor procedures.

4. Aids the Area Merchandiser (AM) or Assistant Area Merchandisers (AMA) in the proper presentation of merchandise; including but not limited to: ticketing, signing, sizing, and display.

5. Participates in the preparation of merchandise for sales and special promotions.

6. Participates in the training of new sales associates, as delegated by the AM or Manager.

7. Follows area assignments to ensure an efficient, smooth running department with a high morale.

8. Takes inventories and maintains unit control records as requested by the AM, AMA, or Manager.

9. Alert management of ways to prevent shoplifting and internal shrinkage.

10. Participates in daily fill-ins from under stock and back stock to ensure complete color and size availability. Assists in daily stock.

11. Communicates needs or customer requests to the AM or AMA.

12. Makes every effort to maintain personal and departmental sales volume and sales commission goals as assigned.

13. Exhibits competent sales techniques to prospective customers in a friendly manner. Gives customer service with a smile.

14. Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision in a timely manner.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Degree or Equivalent.

TRAITS: Pleasant, congenial, accurate, efficient, flexible, motivated, fashion minded, ability to organize, follow instructions in a timely manner and trustworthy. Pleasant telephone etiquette; basic mathematical skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: The physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job: Required to stand for specified time periods, walk, talk or hear, use hands and have ability to reach overhead. Regular lifting or moving of up to 5lbs, possible up to 25lbs. Requires bending, stooping, and limited ability to climb stairs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus and ability to write, count, and read required shipping/ company paperwork.
