RSi is looking to fill a Machine Tool Operator I position to support our NASA customer. The MTO I will provide labor and expertise in the day-to-day operation of multiple types of manually and numerically controlled machine tools.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Setup and operate a variety of machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders)
• Perform repetitive machining tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, honing, broaching, and grinding
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
• Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence
• Select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils to recognize when tools need dressing, and to dress tools
• General programming involving computer-controlled equipment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards
• Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Blueprint interpretation skills
• Basic Manual Machine and CNC Operation skills (mill and lathe preferred)
• Must be able to work independently or within a small team

Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:

• 3 years machine shop experience
• Overhead crane and forklift (will certify to center standards)

Work Environment : Machine shop

Physical Environment (outside, inside, heights, stairs etc.) /Requirements (lifting, heights, bending etc.):

• The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks

Othe r : Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.

Applicants for positions which require a US government security clearance must meet eligibility requirements to include US citizenship.
