Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Intermediate Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals.

The Intermediate Systems Administrator will work collaboratively within a team, focusing on the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from supporting clients in resolving system or IT operation challenges to collaborating with the information security team and providing system-related solutions.

Skills / Experience Required

Key Responsibilities

• VMware System Management: Primarily oversee VMware virtualized environments, along with UNIX, Redhat Linux, Solaris, and Windows systems. Ensure timely patches, upgrades, and compliance with Information Assurance (IA) requirements.
• VMware Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain the performance and accessibility of VMware vSphere and vCenter servers, ensuring optimal service delivery to end-users.
• VMware Environment Setup: Lead the installation and configuration of VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Servers, and other VMware components, aligning with organizational standards and operational needs.
• VMware Monitoring: Conduct daily monitoring of VMware infrastructure, ensuring the integrity and availability of virtual machines, datastores, and other VMware resources. Review vSphere and vCenter logs and verify backup completions using VMware tools.
• Tier III VMware Support: Provide advanced support for VMware technologies, investigating and troubleshooting issues related to vSphere, vCenter, and other VMware solutions.
• VMware Disaster Recovery: Utilize VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and other tools to repair and recover virtualized systems from hardware or software failures, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
• VMware Storage Management: Manage VMware Virtual SAN (vSAN) or other storage solutions, monitoring space and performance. Propose enhancements to improve storage migration and allocation.
• VMware Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize VMware environments, conducting hardware upgrades and resource optimization through vSphere and other VMware tools.
• VMware Security Compliance: Ensure Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) are applied to VMware components efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

• 4 years professional IT experience providing services consistent with those outlined in this description.

Education / Certifications

• Strongly desired: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering
• Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
• Required: DOD 8570.01 IAT II certification required to start (e.g, Security+). Must be able to obtain a DODM 8140.03 advanced level certification within 8 months (Advanced: CASP+ or CCSP)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and may include lifting thirty pounds, as necessary.
