A veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join their team in a temp-to-hire role. This position offers an immediate start and is ideal for candidates with experience or strong interest in equine or veterinary/animal compounding. The pharmacist will hold a pivotal leadership position overseeing pharmacy technicians and ensuring high standards of care for animal patients.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians
• Verify prescriptions and manage daily pharmacy workflow
• Review and maintain approximately 25–30 regularly reordered formularies
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain efficient operations
• Provide leadership focused on exceptional care for animal patients
• Assist with inventory management and operational oversight as needed

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license meeting state requirements
• Experience in equine pharmacy or veterinary/animal compounding preferred (human compounding alone is not sufficient)
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Excellent work ethic with willingness to go above and beyond
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to following procedures and delivering high-quality patient care

Pharmacy Overview:

• Veterinary/Equine compounding with emphasis on non-sterile preparations (some sterile prescriptions processed)
• Approximately 200+ prescriptions shipped daily
• Team of 4 pharmacists, each supervising 3–4 technicians
• Technologies used include PK Software (compounding order entry), QuickBooks Online, and Pharmetica (transitioning soon)
