Position Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will support the U.S. Army Field Maintenance Activity (FMA) contract by ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and organizational quality requirements. This role is responsible for planning, monitoring, and executing quality assurance activities across maintenance, logistics, and technical operations to maintain mission readiness. The QA Specialist will help ensure processes and deliverables comply with AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, Army Regulations, and applicable FAR/DFARS quality clauses.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform in-process and final inspections on maintenance, supply, and logistics operations to verify compliance with technical data, standards, and PWS requirements.
Conduct audits and surveillance of maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to AS9100D/ISO 9001 quality standards and government-mandated processes.
Develop, update, and implement quality control procedures, inspection checklists, and deficiency tracking systems .
Support the Program Manager in preparing Quality Assurance Reports (QARs), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), Preventive Action Requests (PARs), and Risk Mitigation Plans .
Ensure compliance with the Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP) , AR 735-5, AR 750-1, and other Army/AMC/AMCOM requirements.
Maintain oversight of First Article Inspections (FAIs), Process Verification Audits (PVAs), and configuration management (CM) compliance .
Coordinate with Government counterparts (COR, DCMA, DCAA, and DCMA-QARs) to resolve quality issues and support inspections.
Provide training and mentorship to the workforce on QA procedures, safety, and continuous improvement practices.
Track, analyze, and report quality metrics , including inspection results, nonconformance trends, and customer feedback.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, quality management, logistics, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably supporting Army maintenance or logistics contracts.
Knowledge of AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems ; Lead Auditor certification preferred.
Familiarity with Army regulations, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), and maintenance documentation.
Experience with Government systems and standards (GCSS-Army, LMP, AWIMS, LIW, etc.).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a high-tempo environment.
Prior experience supporting FMA, RS3, or other large Army sustainment contracts.
Background in aviation or ground vehicle maintenance QA.
Experience interfacing with DCMA, DCAA, or CORs on quality matters.
Green Belt/Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent CPI background.
Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for dimensional inspection.
Knowledge of calibrated tools and equipment verification requirements.
