Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of the core embedded application, ensuring high performance and reliability within Linux-based environments.
Serve as the primary technical lead for implementing and maintaining STIG compliance for the application and its host OS.
Develop and maintain automated configuration management scripts (e.g., Ansible, Chef, or Bash) to ensure development and production environments remain compliant and reproducible.
Integrate security scanning, automated testing, and compliance checks into the software build and deployment pipeline.
Support CMMC and ATO (Authority to Operate) efforts by maintaining technical documentation and evidence of security control implementation in coordination with the ISSM.
Provide direct IT support to software developers and engineers, including troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and development environment issues.
Support software configuration management practices and coordinate with developers on build, test, and deployment infrastructure needs.
Resolve hardware and software problems, plan upgrades, and collaborate with engineers on system and network optimization.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
3+ years of combined software development and Linux administration.
Experience with at least one high-level programming language (C, C++, Python, etc.) and shell scripting.
Strong proficiency in Linux hardening (SELinux, GRUB security, filesystem encryption) and STIG implementation.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Podman) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) preferred.
CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD-approved baseline certification preferred.
Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CASP+, or CompTIA Linux+ are a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders.
U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance and ability to maintain required clearance.
Physical Description
Employees in these positions will function in a general office/cubicle setting environment, and laboratory/testing setting using standard office equipment and various electronic testing equipment, including a computer, telephone, printers, video equipment, computer software and testing equipment. Will interact in a general office setting environment with various personnel; participate in meetings and contribute to team success; deliver timely results and produce reports; receive and communicate information; may include telework. May function in a specialized laboratory/testing environment using electronic testing equipment, computer software and complex systems. May move and test equipment of various weights. Laboratory environment may require use of protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety glasses and protective hearing and footwear. May be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization due to business demands; travel occasionally for assigned work.
