Construction Manager

Montgomery, AL

Construction Manager (CM) – (Data Center / Mission-Critical)

Build what powers the future.

As a Construction Manager (CM) you’ll be the on-site delivery lead accountable for end-to-end execution of complex, fast-paced construction scope within a mission-critical portfolio . This is a hands-on field leadership role for builders who thrive on ownership—driving safety, quality, schedule certainty, and financial performance while partnering closely with the GC, key trades, internal stakeholders, and local authorities.

You don’t need traditional “data center-only” experience to win here. If you’ve led delivery in Telecom, industrial, oil & gas, chemical, advanced manufacturing, utilities, hospitals, or other critical infrastructure , and you’re strong in MEP , you’ll feel right at home.

What You’ll Own (Day-to-Day)

  • Lead site execution as the on-site delivery authority—running the build with the GC and trade partners , coordinating daily activities, and removing blockers to keep crews productive and safe.
  • Build trust fast across contractors, designers, internal partners, and stakeholders—setting the tone for collaboration, urgency, and accountability.
  • Drive a world-class safety culture —own the plan, enforce expectations, and model the behaviors that prevent incidents and protect teams.
  • Deliver predictable outcomes across:
    • Quality (inspection readiness, punch management, QA/QC coordination)
    • Schedule (look-aheads, constraint clearing, milestone discipline)
    • Cost (forecasting, change control, scope alignment, risk quantification)
  • Own issue and risk management —identify early, escalate smartly, and push decisions that protect schedule and cost certainty.
  • Coordinate with AHJs and local stakeholders as needed to keep permits, inspections, and approvals on track.
  • Support preconstruction (as applicable): constructability input, scope alignment, budget development, schedule planning, and GMP support.
  • Partner across teams to support commissioning readiness and integrated turnover—especially where MEP, electrical, and connectivity/system integration intersect.

What Success Looks Like

  • The site runs safely, cleanly, and predictably—teams know the plan and execute it.
  • Trade partners are aligned, RFIs/submittals don’t stall the field, and constraints get cleared before they become delays.
  • Quality is built-in (not inspected-in): rework is minimized, punch is controlled, turnover is smooth.
  • Forecasts are credible: schedule status is real-time, cost and change are transparent, risks are actively managed.

What You Bring (Must-Have)

  • Exceptional relationship-building + communication : you can influence without drama, align competing priorities, and keep teams moving together.
  • Strong construction leadership in complex environments—field-forward, decisive, and calm under pressure.
  • Deep MEP knowledge (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)—you can lead conversations, validate plans in the field, and spot risk early (bonus if heavy electrical).
  • Schedule & budget command : you understand how plans translate into work, sequencing, productivity, and cost outcomes; you’ve partnered effectively with PMs and project controls.
  • Experience leading execution in at least one of the following:
    • Data centers / mission critical
    • Industrial / oil & gas / chemical
    • Power / utilities / substations
    • Advanced manufacturing / pharma
    • Hospitals or other critical infrastructure

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Direct data center construction delivery experience.
  • Familiarity with commissioning , integrated systems turnover, and/or connectivity coordination (cabling/network integration).
  • Experience with GMP development and managing scopes under contract delivery models.

Why This Role (Employee Value Proposition)

  • High visibility, mission-critical portfolio : you’ll help deliver infrastructure that directly supports the most critical operations and growth.
  • Real ownership : you’re not a pass-through—your leadership drives outcomes in the field.
  • Complex builds, strong partners, meaningful scale : if you love solving hard construction problems with smart teams, you’ll be in your element.
