Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Specialist to support integration projects for an Alabama-based automation and manufacturing solutions provider supporting aerospace & defense, medical, nuclear, automotive, and R&D industries.

This role is ideal for a hands-on automation professional who can both execute technical work and lead projects in a “player-coach” capacity. The selected candidate will oversee electrical design, pneumatic design, programming, testing and installation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify control programs for PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, VFDs, servo drives, and machine vision systems.
• Lead assigned automation projects from order receipt through design, programming, installation, and final customer acceptance.
• Perform field service, troubleshooting, and repair on previously installed systems, including both company-built equipment and third-party installations.
• Interface directly with customers during project execution and installation
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of automation and controls experience in industrial environments
• Proficient in PLC and/or industrial robot programming across multiple platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to the design, programming, integration, and troubleshooting of automated systems.
• Hands-on experience developing PLC programs and HMI applications for integrated automation systems.
• Ability to travel approximately 15% (primarily Southeastern U.S., typically 3–5 days at a time)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass strict background screening (no felony convictions)
• U.S. Citizenship required

Desired Experience

• Designing pneumatic control systems
• Electrical Design Experience
• Robotics - Motoman (Yaskawa), Fanuc, ABB, or KUKA (acceptable alternative to ABB)
• PLC Platforms - Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Toyopuc, Omron, and/or Mitsubishi
• Industrial I/O network configuration
• Cognex and/or Keyence vision systems
• AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical (2009+)
