Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements

• Experience: 2 years of recent Med/Surg Registered Nurse experience in a hospital setting (acute care)
• License: Active Alabama RN license or compact/multi-state RN license
• Certifications (AHA required): BLS and ACLS
• Clinical Skills: Time-management skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care to a diverse Medical-Surgical patient population, including pre- and post-operative patients
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, IM, and IV routes; monitor for and report adverse reactions per policy
• Monitor patient status, interpret electronic displays, and initiate appropriate interventions for changes in condition
• Perform bedside nursing procedures such as dressing changes, catheter insertion, IV starts, and assisting with exams/treatments
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and post-discharge home care needs
• Respond to urgent and life-saving situations in accordance with nursing standards, hospital policy, and protocol
• Support discharge planning and ensure thorough, accurate, and timely documentation
• Complete other unit-based duties as assigned based on patient care needs
