Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Med Surg / Telemetry Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Tuscaloosa, AL. This position is on a Renal/Telemetry unit caring for patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions.

Start Date: March 16, 2026 (ASAP consideration)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: 4x12 Hour Day Shifts
Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (facility will accept either)

This is a contractor replacement position in a collaborative renal specialty unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to renal and telemetry patients
• Care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease
• Manage post-hemodialysis patients
• Provide care for patients receiving peritoneal dialysis
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry changes
• Collaborate with nephrologists, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech
• Float to other units and affiliated hospitals as needed

Patient Ratio: 1:6

Requirements

• Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license (temporary licenses not accepted)
• AHA BLS (or Red Cross equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
  • Will consider 18 months if candidate has at least 1 year of recent specialty experience
• Recent Med Surg / Telemetry experience required
• Must be willing to float between units and hospitals

New graduates will not be considered.

Renal-focused Med Surg/Tele unit with 1:6 ratios. Must have recent telemetry experience and be comfortable caring for post-hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients. Floating to other units and hospitals required. Every other weekend and holidays required. 36 or 48 hours available. Experienced MS/Tele RNs only.
