Position Summary

Douglas Tree Service, LLC is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class A or B Driver to join our growing team. This position is responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles and heavy equipment used in tree care operations, including dump trucks, grapple trucks, bucket trucks, equipment trailers, and other company vehicles. Drivers are expected to assist tree crews on job sites and play an active role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally. Tree service drivers often support field operations beyond driving, including equipment operation, debris handling, and site cleanup.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate CDL-required vehicles, including:
• • Dump trucks
  • Grapple trucks
  • Roll-off trucks
  • Bucket trucks
  • Tractor-trailers and equipment trailers
• Transport crews, equipment, machinery, and materials to and from job sites.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required DOT documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and mechanically sound truck.
• Report maintenance concerns immediately.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and securing equipment and materials.
• Haul logs, wood chips, brush, and debris to disposal or recycling facilities.
• Assist ground crews with tree removal and pruning operations when not driving.
• Operate equipment such as mini skid steers, stump grinders, or loaders as trained.
• Help with traffic control and job site setup.
• Follow all DOT regulations, OSHA standards, ANSI Z133 standards, and company safety policies.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records, and vehicle inspections as required.
• Respond to emergency storm work, overtime, or after-hours callouts when needed.
• Represent Douglas Tree Service professionally while interacting with customers.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A or Class B License.
• Current DOT Medical Card.
• Clean driving record with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Experience pulling trailers and backing equipment preferred.
• Experience operating grapple trucks, dump trucks, or heavy equipment is preferred.
• Tree service or construction experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work safely in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb on and off trucks and equipment throughout the day.
• Bend, kneel, squat, push, pull, and perform manual labor.
• Work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and uneven terrain.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety.
• Safe operation of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to identify hazards and work safely around tree crews and heavy machinery.
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
