Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment while leading a maintenance team and ensuring all preventative maintenance activities are completed on schedule. This role focuses heavily on electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, gearboxes, pumps, belts, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related wiring and cabling. The supervisor ensures equipment reliability, supports continuous operations, and drives safe, efficient maintenance practices across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a maintenance team, providing direction, support, and guidance to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on industrial equipment, with a strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Change out motors and perform repair and replacement of gearboxes, pumps, belts, and bearings as needed to maintain equipment performance.
• Execute and oversee preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Work with hydraulics and pneumatics systems, including inspection, repair, and replacement of components.
• Handle wiring and cabling tasks, including installation, inspection, and repair in accordance with electrical standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to plan and complete maintenance and repair activities accurately.
• Utilize multimeters and other diagnostic tools to test and verify electrical systems, including AC/DC circuits and 480-volt equipment.
• Troubleshoot and support variable frequency drives (VFDs) and related control systems.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues affecting industrial automation and equipment performance.
• Use maintenance management systems, such as SAP or similar software, to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and manage spare parts.
• Coordinate with other departments, including electrical, fabrication, and process technicians, to support production needs and resolve equipment issues.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following established procedures and reporting hazards or equipment concerns promptly.
• Support the transition and integration of new equipment in an expanding, state-of-the-art facility.
• Adapt to rotating shift schedules and ensure adequate maintenance coverage during both day and night operations.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in industrial maintenance supervision or a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical maintenance experience, including work with AC/DC systems, 480-volt equipment, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on motors, gearboxes, pumps, belts, and bearings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics accurately.
• Hands-on experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting in industrial environments.
• Capability to work with wiring and cabling for industrial equipment and systems.
• Experience using maintenance management or ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
• Willingness and ability to work night shifts (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) on a 2-2-3 schedule and rotate between day and night shifts.
• Comfort working in non-climate-controlled manufacturing environments.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with maintenance, electrical, fabrication, and process teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plastics manufacturing, poultry processing, or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Experience in industrial electrical work or as an electrician in a manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with Siemens or similar industrial control systems.
• Experience in maintenance management and supervision, including coordinating a team of technicians.
• Exposure to industrial automation and control systems beyond basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Ability to mentor less experienced technicians and share technical knowledge.
• Adaptability to work in older facilities as well as new, state-of-the-art plants with modern equipment.
• Comfort with long-term employment in a stable, growing industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The facility processes recycled raw materials into finished products such as plastic pellets and chips, operating in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting. The current and new facilities are not climate controlled, so temperatures can vary significantly and require comfort working in warm or cold conditions. The environment is typical of plastics and similar manufacturing operations, and candidates with experience from poultry plants or other industrial sites often adapt well. The plant is undergoing expansion, with a new building featuring all new, state-of-the-art equipment, while still maintaining a robust existing operation. The role follows a night shift schedule of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, with initial training on day shift Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (with a dedicated maintenance day on Tuesday). The organization is moving toward a rotation of approximately four months on days and four months on nights, so flexibility to work any shift is essential.E

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
