Position: Legal Assistant
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Firm: Elizabeth Hunter Law Firm
Employment Type: Full-Time Only (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals.
• Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents, correspondence, and filings.
• Manage and organize case files, both electronic and physical, in compliance with firm procedures.
• Maintain attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
• Answer and route phone calls, emails, and client inquiries in a professional manner.
• Assist with client intake, including gathering information and documentation.
• File legal documents with courts electronically and in person when necessary.
• Support attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibits, binders, and witness coordination.
• Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support daily operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of prior legal experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a similar law firm role is required.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with legal case management software (experience with Filevine is a plus).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive matters.
• Professional demeanor with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $35,000–$40,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
