Mother/Baby RN Job Details

• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87109 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Facility Setting: Post-Partum Couplet Care Unit
• Position Type: Locum tenens (Travel Registered Nurse)
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30), 3 shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours available
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1580–$1620
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Infants, Adults
• Unit Size: 22 beds, average daily census of 20
• Weekend Coverage: Required as scheduled
• Floating: May float to NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Antepartum units
• Scrub Color: Any (no logos)

Mother/Baby RN Qualifications

• Active NM or Compact Registered Nurse license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Mother/Baby, Couplet Care, or Postpartum nursing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred
• Ability to float to similar units as needed (NICU, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum)
• Patient ratio experience: 3-4 patients per nurse
• Excellent communication and patient education skills

Mother/Baby RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive postpartum care and education to mothers and newborns
• Conduct newborn assessments, cord care, and metabolic screenings
• Administer medications, including IV antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, and Pitocin
• Support breastfeeding and provide car seat safety education
• Assist with circumcision care and discharge teaching for parents
• Monitor and manage pain, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Float to NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Antepartum units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
