Job Details:

• Work 4x12 hour shifts with every other weekend coverage required
• Float to like units as needed with possible charge nurse responsibilities
• Maintain 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio for adults and geriatric patients
• 30-minute lunch break required with no skipped meals policy
• Perform IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care and wound vac management
• Manage colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, blood product administration
• Handle peripheral line care, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration
• Operate PCA pumps, manage surgical drains, and provide oxygen administration
• Work with Paragon charting system and interdisciplinary support teams
• Required certifications: Alabama nursing license, current BLS via AHA, and fit test
• NIHSS and Level II trauma experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred but local candidates within 60-mile radius considered
• Maximum 7 days requested time off allowed
• Schedules cannot be adjusted once contract is confirmed
• Must adhere to call-in policy and complete facility-specific modules during orientation

This healthcare facility operates a 30-bed medical surgical unit providing comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients. The facility offers extensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretarial support. The organization maintains strict policies regarding meal breaks and attendance to ensure optimal patient care and safety standards.
