ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As a CNC Programmer/Process Engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures & Optics (PSO), youll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes that involve CNC machinery. The primary role includes creating precise programs that control machine tools, ensuring parts are produced accurately and efficiently. This role will initially focus heavily on CNC programming, with a gradual incorporation of manufacturing process engineering duties as proficiency in CNC programming is achieved. At General Dynamics Mission Systems we manufacture Beryllium products used in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. Our products are used in high performance targeting and guidance systems, missile defense systems, space exploration, and satellites. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and write CNC programs for machining aerospace componentsInterpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate programsOptimize tool paths and machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce cycle timesCollaborate with design engineers and machinists to ensure manufacturability and production requirementsTroubleshoot and resolve programming issues and machine errorsMaintain and update CNC program libraries and documentationConduct trial runs and adjust programs as needed to ensure precision and qualityImplement and maintain process control techniques and proceduresDevelop and optimize machining processes for aerospace componentsConduct time studies and apply lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiencyTrain and mentor production staff on new processes and equipmentParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce costsEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulationsCollaborate closely with the manufacturing shop floor to ensure the seamless integration of CNC programming with production operations SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Proficiency in CAD/CAM softwareStrong understanding of CNC machine operation and G-code programmingKnowledge of materials and machining techniques specific to aerospace componentsAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&TExperience with DNC (Direct Numerical Control) systemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and precisionAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong communication and documentationskillsExperience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies Our Commitment to You: An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning a developmentResearch oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nations securityFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health and wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and moreSee more at com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefits Workplace Options: This position is fully on-site. Salary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. Combined Salary Range USD $81,787.00 - USD $90,732.00 /Yr.
