Custodian
Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized work environment throughout office, retail/showroom, and common areas. This role supports daily facility operations by ensuring cleanliness standards are consistently met and addressing general upkeep needs as they arise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain routine cleaning schedules for office spaces, common areas, and customer facing areas
- Remove trash and dispose of waste properly throughout the facility
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and maintain floors
- Clean, sanitize, and restock restroom facilities
- Maintain cleanliness of breakrooms, entryways, and shared spaces
- Respond to spills and other cleaning needs promptly using proper cleaning equipment and procedures
- Assist with special cleaning projects and unscheduled cleanup tasks as needed
- Perform basic minor maintenance and upkeep tasks
- Report any major maintenance or repair concerns to management
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines and sanitation procedures
- Monitor facility appearance and proactively address areas needing attention without direct supervision
- Help ensure the building is secured at the end of the workday when assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and safety practices
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the 8 to 10 hous daily
- Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment as needed
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks in various areas of the facility
