Staff Accountant
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, performing general ledger account reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role supports the finance team in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial data and report on variances to budget or forecast.
- Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with accounting software
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA candidate or certification a plus.
- Experience in construction accounting
- Familiarity with ERP systems and automated accounting tools.
