Job Description

Underground Drops Manager

Lead the Crews. Own the Operation. Build What’s Next.

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Underground Drops Manager to lead our underground drop operations and subcontractor partners.

This is more than a field supervision role. We’re looking for a leader who can take ownership of day-to-day operations, build strong crews, develop reliable subcontractor partnerships, and ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

If you understand underground telecommunications construction, know how to get the best out of field teams, and want an opportunity where you can make a measurable impact on an operation, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Do

As the Underground Drops Manager, you’ll be responsible for the performance of our underground drop operation—from work assignment through successful completion.

Lead Field Operations

  • Oversee daily underground drop activities, ensuring crews have the direction, resources, and support needed to complete work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Drive Production

  • Monitor workloads, job assignments, completion rates, aging work, and other key operational metrics to keep production moving and customer commitments on track.

Own Quality

  • Ensure underground drops are installed correctly and meet company, customer, utility, and applicable construction standards. Identify recurring quality issues and implement solutions that prevent them from happening again.

Champion Safety

  • Create a culture where safety comes first. Ensure crews follow safe excavation practices, utility locating requirements, PPE standards, and all company and regulatory safety procedures..

Protect the Customer Experience

  • Ensure crews maintain professional jobsites, communicate appropriately with customers, minimize property disruption, and leave each worksite in excellent condition.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Underground Drops Manager doesn't simply keep up with the work—they build an operation capable of handling more of it.

You’ll be successful when:

  • Underground drops are completed safely, correctly, and on time
  • Production goals and customer service-level expectations are consistently achieved
  • Aging work and backlog are actively managed
  • Internal crews and subcontractors understand expectations and are held accountable
  • Quality issues, damages, and repeat work are minimized
  • Field problems are identified and resolved quickly
  • Crews have the leadership, communication, and resources they need to succeed
  • Customers and partners view our underground operation as reliable, responsive, and professional

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines underground construction knowledge with strong operational leadership .

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Experience in underground telecommunications, utilities, broadband, fiber, cable, or related construction operations
  • Previous experience leading field crews and/or subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of underground drop installation and construction practices
  • Knowledge of utility locating, excavation safety, restoration, and damage-prevention practices
  • Experience managing production goals, work queues, schedules, and field performance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-moving field environment
  • Ability to build accountability while maintaining strong relationships with employees and subcontractor partners
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with operations leadership, customers, field personnel, subcontractors, and support teams
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned market as needed

Experience with telecommunications MSOs, fiber construction, underground drops, directional boring, trenching, plowing, or similar underground construction operations is highly preferred.

Why Join Us?

We believe great operations start with great leaders.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of an important part of our field operation while helping shape how we grow. You'll have the ability to improve processes, develop crews, strengthen subcontractor partnerships, and build an underground operation that can scale with the business.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid holidays
  • Company-provided tools and resources needed to succeed
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • A growing organization where strong leaders have the opportunity to make an impact

Ready to Lead From the Field?

If you’re the type of leader who takes ownership, solves problems, develops people, and takes pride in seeing a job completed the right way, we’d like to hear from you.

Apply today and help us build an underground operation known for safety, quality, accountability, and results.
