About the Role:
As a Utility Locator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of underground utility operations. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately identify and mark the locations of various utilities, such as water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications, prior to excavation or construction activities. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of utility mapping techniques to prevent accidental damage and service interruptions. You will collaborate closely with construction teams, engineers, and local authorities to provide essential information that supports safe digging practices. Ultimately, your work will contribute to the protection of public infrastructure and the prevention of costly accidents.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Experience in utility locating or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in utility locating or related technical training.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology.
- Previous experience working in construction or civil engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys to locate and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.
- Interpret utility maps and blueprints to ensure accurate identification of utility lines.
- Communicate effectively with construction teams and stakeholders regarding utility locations and potential hazards.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations and any changes made during the marking process.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
