The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life while supporting mining activities. Heavy equipment will include large excavators (80K lbs. to 110K lbs.), articulating haul trucks, Komatsu HM400 40-ton, front-end wheel loaders, Caterpillar 980 and Komatsu WA500, etc. Duties include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate all equipment in a safe manner and for its intended use while supporting mining activities
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment as necessary: notify management of all damaged or unsafe equipment or tools.
• Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, or other materials during mining-related activities and to move, load, and unload materials and supplies.
• Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required, including removing personal belongings and trash from the cab and cleaning up spills, etc.
• Interact with internal or external customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner that contributes toward a positive and productive worksite.
• Perform plant maintenance as needed
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Experience operating large excavators ranging from 80,000lbs to 110,000lbs; articulating haul trucks, Komatsu HM400 40-ton, front end wheel loaders, Caterpillar 980 and Komatsu WA500 is required.
• Sound understanding of safety regulations, safe work practices, and work procedures and be capable of assisting in maintaining safe work sites.
• Good vision and spatial ability.
• Good eye-hand coordination and good manual dexterity.
• Physical strength and stamina.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Plant maintenance experience is a plus
• Previous sand/gravel mining experience is a plus
