This role leads safety & security efforts for the employees assigned to the Milford, DE food manufacturing complex by maintaining a world-class culture through continually improving safety processes. The Senior Safety and Security Manager will be the technical expert partnering with operation leadership to deliver operational results through impactful safety, health, and security solutions. This is a high profile position offering competitive base salary, rich management incentive plan, and excellent benefits! **Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities** + Leads all safety & security efforts for the Lewiston manufacturing complex and Perdue Farms' eastern North Carolina field operations. Manages live production and garage safety in conjunction with the non-collocated safety director, safety for live production and garage/transportation operations non-manufacturing facilities located within the vicinity of the primary assignment. Total: 1800 FTE's supported. + Directly leads & manages daily activities and personnel matters of the facility and its security contract personnel to ensure resources are effectively and consistently employed in the organization. + Leads facility security team/guard force in managing security processes to include developing/ administering site security practices and policies, supporting and tracking required key performance indicators including training objectives, and timely completion of site surveys and or audits. + Provides technical expertise for cross functional teams to ensure safe operational processes and capital/engineering projects. Collaborates with functional experts in vehicle safety, corporate security, environmental, PSM, and other areas to align facility activities and objectives. Provides interpretations for OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other pertinent regulations to ensure processes and policies comply with applicable laws and regulations. + Continuously interacts with the hourly work force to promote safety awareness, drive associate engagement, and ensure a world-class safety culture exists within the operations supported. Works aggressively to resolve safety issues and concerns. + Leads site safety business plan development by analyzing relevant data and tracking/reporting facility and corporate KPIs/metrics. Validates plan's actions through internal safety and security auditing tracking findings through closure. + Provides training support to the organization and ensures that all required safety training is effectively completed on time. + Ensures effective investigations on all safety and security incidents are completed, participating actively during complex and high impact investigation. Ensure root cause is determined and appropriate corrective actions developed, tracking recommendations to closure. Utilizes incident data to develop action plans to address hazards and emerging trends. + Leads/member of the incident command team and required to respond and or direct emergency response activities. + Liaisons for 3rd party assessments, audits, & inspections, i.e. insurance carrier, local fire department, risk engineering firms, OSHA, DHS, etc. + Maintains working relationship with permanent and temporary contractors to validate their safe work practices and supports their activities to maintain a superior safety environment at the facility. **Minimum Education** + A Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety & Heath, or Industrial Health Management, or Occupational Health & Safety, or a related degree such as Safety Engineering. **Experience Requirements** + 10+ years' experience in manufacturing safety management with multi-site responsibility. + Demonstrated experience leading a world-class safety program which has achieved <2.0 TRIR. + Must possess a valid driver's license. + Industrial and food safety health knowledge. + Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements. + Strong organizational skills. + Excellent grammar and writing skills. + Strong supervisory skills, particularly supervising off-site personnel. + Proven ability to lead and influence others. + Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. + Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate employees and communicate objectives and action plans. + Ability to research pertinent facts, data and other information from internal and external sources. + Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OHM, SAP. + Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance. + 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher. + CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. **Experience Preferred** + A Master's degree in Environment, Safety & Health Certified from the Board of Safety Professional (CSP) or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). **Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements** + May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. + May need to access files, supplies, and equipment. When in a facility environment: + Exposure primarily consists of dry concrete floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. + Exposure to extreme temperatures as low as 28 Degrees Fahrenheit. + Humidity (0-100%) + May handle product 25-50 degrees Fahrenheit. + Adhere to all safety rules including PPE, preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters. + Able to stand for several hours. + Work may include lifting (35 to 65 lbs.) to heights from 5" to 84", reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly. _Perdue Farms Inc. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
