A registered nurse with stepdown experience is needed for a contract position in Clanton, AL. This role focuses on delivering high-quality care in a stepdown unit, providing essential support for patients requiring close monitoring beyond the ICU but not in critical condition.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and care for patients in the stepdown unit, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4
• Administer medications and treatments following prescribed care plans
• Utilize Electronic Health Records systems (Epic) for accurate and timely charting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Provide patient education and support for recovery and discharge planning
• Float as needed within similar skillset areas to meet patient and unit needs

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure with experience in stepdown nursing
• Certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Strong knowledge of common diagnoses and treatments such as pneumonia
• Ability to work every other weekend and float within designated units
• Skilled in using Epic for documentation
• Comfortable wearing navy blue scrubs as part of the dress code

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend on shift rotation
• No call requirements
