Job Summary:
The Thermal Modification Supervisor at Swift Lumber is responsible for overseeing the thermal treatment of southern yellow pine lumber at our Atmore, Alabama facility. This leadership role manages s plant operations, ensures consistent product quality, and supervises a team in a safety-first environment. The position requires a flexible schedule to support operations and maintain production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the thermal treatment process, including scheduling, operation, and maintenance
• Monitor and adjust process variables to ensure proper treatment cycles
• Lead and supervise plant operators and production staff
• Ensure all treated lumber meets quality, durability, and grading specifications
• Maintain accurate records of treatment cycles, maintenance logs, and production data
• Enforce safety standards and ensure OSHA compliance across all plant and ancillary operations
• Collaborate with quality control and logistics teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders
• Train team members on equipment use, safety, and process improvements
• Recommend and implement efficiency improvements to reduce waste and downtime

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or higher education preferred
• Experience or familiarity with wood processing or thermal modification desired
• Supervisory or team leadership experience in an industrial setting
• Strong knowledge of southern yellow pine and treatment systems
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Proficient with data entry and advanced computer systems
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Good problem-solving skills and an inquisitive approach to continuous improvement

Working Conditions:

• Industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, and wood dust
• Requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Flexible scheduling; Position may require occasional weekend or shift coverage as needed
