Overview:
We are seeking an experienced forklift operator to support material movement in a fast-paced metal recycling facility. This role involves handling irregular, heavy, and loose scrap materials in an outdoor industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts to move, load, and stage scrap metal (aluminum, copper, etc.)
- Handle non-palletized, uneven, and shifting loads
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Work safely around heavy processing equipment (conveyors, shredders, etc.)
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, spotters, and machinery
- Keep work areas clear of debris and hazards
- Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols
Requirements:
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Experience in scrap yard, recycling, construction, or heavy industrial setting strongly preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, dust, and noise
- Comfortable handling sharp and irregular materials
- Strong safety mindset and situational awareness
