We’re looking for a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team and help us continue to deliver high-quality meals to our guests.

Position Overview: As a Cook at De-Railed Diner, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to order according to our diner’s menu standards. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared quickly and to the highest quality. Attention to detail, cleanliness, and a passion for creating delicious meals are key components of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook food items according to De-Railed Diner’s recipes, ensuring all dishes are prepared to order and meet our quality standards.
• Menu Knowledge: Have a thorough understanding of the menu, including all ingredients, portion sizes, and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining kitchen inventory by checking stock, ensuring supplies are ordered on time, and properly storing ingredients to maintain freshness.
• Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including countertops, utensils, cooking equipment, and storage areas. Follow proper sanitation and food safety procedures.
• Food Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety standards, including proper food handling, temperature control, and hygiene practices.
• Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure orders are prepared and delivered to guests in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with servers and other kitchen staff to manage order flow.
• Quality Control: Ensure that all food items are prepared and presented according to diner standards. Maintain consistency in portion sizes and food presentation.
• Specials & Custom Orders: Assist in preparing daily specials and any custom requests or modifications to the menu items as needed.
• Time Management: Work efficiently to ensure food is prepared and served promptly, especially during busy hours, without compromising quality.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a cook or in a kitchen environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and the ability to follow them.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items, and working in a hot environment.
