SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:

Responsible for the overall management and operation of the Student Behavior Management.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages and directs the operation of the Student Behavior Management System.
• Provides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for Student Human Resources staff.
• Ensures the Center student behavior management system complies with Job Corps policies and procedures.
• Provides orientation to new students and staff.
• Acts as a liaison between the Center and judicial agencies/courts; solicits legal representation for students; coordinates bail bond processes.
• Initiates behavior-related serious incident reports and seeks prior approval of the Center Director and Corporate Headquarters prior to submission to Regional and National Offices.
• Oversees the operation of the Behavior Review panels.
• Promotes and oversees the student incentive program.
• Administers penalties for disciplinary infractions in accordance with the Student Handbook.
• Oversees the management and maintenance of student behavior management records.
• Prepares and controls the departmental budget.
• Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.
• Responsible for implementing and monitoring of the student leadership program.
• Acts as Center Director in the absence of the same.
• Acts as trusted advisor to the Center Director and is a member of the senior leadership team.

• Demonstrated knowledge of management practices; proven ability to lead and support a team
• Ability to understand, control and track direct spending and labor budgets
• Demonstrated ability to work with challenging students in a variety of situations
• Ability to work with constant interruptions
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient in the use of a personal computer
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated knowledge of student behavioral issues

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science or related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE:

• Three years in youth counseling, law enforcement or related field; one of which was in a supervisory capacity.

OTHER:

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

• May be required to work a flex schedule to include evenings and/or weekends
• Exposure to possible confrontations with students
