Job Description & Position Responsibilities:
Penta Research is seeking qualified candidates to join a team performing software development in support of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Missile Defense Agency (MDA) program. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the critical defense systems that keep our country safe. You will work with a highly skilled team to design, implement, and test software solutions to simulate and test tactical components that will be deployed in the field.
This position requires a skilled engineer or scientist who enjoys solving complex problems and thrives in a highly collaborative team environment. The candidate must have the ability to design and build object-oriented software applications and debug problems with complex systems. Development will take place in an Agile environment where efficiency and resiliency are prioritized. Candidates with technical team-leadership experience are desired.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10-20 years of software development experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering, computer science, or similar
- Experience developing software in C++ and at least one of the following:
- Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, Go, Matlab or other major software language
- Basic understanding of missile defense systems (MDS)
- Experience developing object-orientation software
- Comfortable in a Linux environment
- Experience with Configuration Management Tools: (git, Gitlab)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in a collaborative team environment
- Experience with Agile process tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical leadership experience: product owner, scrum master, or similar team-lead position
- Expertise with one or more MDS systems: radar, battle manager / fire control, interceptor
- Experience with the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program
- Expertise designing and building simulation products
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation experience
- Experience with automated testing and continuous integration (CI) principles
