Site Director (HIM DYS Campus)

Hope Inspired Ministries Inc.
Montgomery, AL

Job Description – DYS HIM Campus Site Director

Position : DYS Site Director Reports to : Executive Director

Job Description – Department of Youth Services (DYS) Campus Site Director

Purpose:

The DYS Site Director will lead Hope Inspired Ministries’ (HIM) Mt. Meigs Campus inside the Department of Youth Services (DYS), ensuring the organization’s mission is fully realized within the incarcerated youth population. As a core part of our Recruit, Train, Employ™ model, you will serve young men involved in the juvenile justice system by providing holistic training that includes classroom instruction, job skills development, and comprehensive wrap-around services. While this is a smaller campus with a lean team (typically one Site Director and one Career Life Coach), the Director may, at times, assume Career Life Coach duties to ensure continuity and quality of services.

You will also help students prepare for reentry by assisting with identification, court coordination, transportation needs post-release, and other support services that remove barriers to long-term success. Ultimately, your goal is to instill hope, purpose, and a path to employment for justice-involved youth.

Each day at HIM begins with devotion, utilizing the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren to help students discover their purpose and set goals to achieve it. This role requires a relational leader who excels at building trust with incarcerated youth, working with correctional staff, and building bridges with reentry organizations and employers.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the lead HIM representative at the Mt. Meigs DYS campus, building strong relationships with DYS leadership, facility staff, and juvenile justice partners to advance our mission.

  • Lead by example, engaging with students and staff in a supportive, relational way to foster personal and professional growth.Inspire and energize HIM’s students, volunteers, alumni, and community partners to work together toward our mission of transforming lives.

  • Build, coach, and retain a cohesive team that is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

  • As needed, take on Career Life Coach duties to assist with student coaching, instruction, and support.

Program Oversight:

Ensure all aspects of the Recruit, Train, Employ™ model are executed, including:

  • Recruiting : Coordinate with DYS staff to recruit participants and maintain a full classroom of eligible students.

  • Training : Oversee classroom teaching, job skills training, and personalized wrap-around services—helping participants prepare for court hearings, reentry services, ID acquisition, and mental/behavioral health referrals as needed.

  • Employment (Post-Release) : Connect with reentry partners, mentors, and employers to support employment transitions once students are released. Track graduates and provide post-release support when possible.

  • Maintain excellence in program delivery, regularly evaluating performance and implementing improvements.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic initiatives that expand the reach and impact of HIM in the youth justice space.

  • Utilize data and key metrics to evaluate progress and implement solutions to improve outcomes for participants.

  • Submit a monthly report to the Executive Director and DYS leadership summarizing program updates, student progress, activities, and any relevant developments.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Office Manager and Grant Manager to ensure financial accuracy, timely reporting, and the completion of grant documentation.

  • Prepare and maintain program-related data for internal and external reports, including grant applications.

  • Oversee administrative duties to ensure efficient daily operations and long-term planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to connect with justice-involved youth.

  • A natural networker who thrives on building relationships within correctional, nonprofit, and community-based settings.

  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support a team, as well as mentor individuals.

  • Project management skills with an ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Public speaking experience and the confidence to represent HIM in formal and informal settings.

  • Experience in recruiting volunteers, program participants, and partners to grow the program.

  • Strong ethical values, with an ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or two years of leadership experience is preferred, but equivalent experience in nonprofit management, ministry, corrections, or community organizing will be considered.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office platforms.

Travel Requirements:

Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance. Occasional use of a personal vehicle for transporting students may be necessary, although a company vehicle is provided for most transportation needs.

Hours & Compensation:

This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package designed to support your work-life balance and overall well-being. Benefits include:

  • Health Coverage : Individual health insurance is available at no cost to the employee for those who choose to enroll. Participation is optional and begins after a 90-day probationary period.

  • Retirement Savings : Access to a 401K plan with up to a 3% employer match to help you prepare for your future.

  • Paid Time Off : Enjoy 15 paid holidays, 80 hours of vacation, and 80 hours of sick leave each year.

  • Birthday Bonus Day : Take your birthday off — paid! We believe everyone deserves to celebrate their special day without using vacation time.

  • Flexible Work Option : Consider a 4-day workweek with 10-hour days to maximize your time and productivity.

  • Mileage Reimbursement : Receive reimbursement for travel-related expenses incurred during your work.

  • Life Insurance : Employer-paid life insurance coverage begins after a 90-day probationary period.

  • Evening & Weekend Hours : Some evening and weekend hours may be required for program activities and community engagement.

Salary:

Competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 , based on experience and qualifications. We value the skills and dedication of our team members and are committed to providing a compensation package that reflects your contributions to our mission.

Why Join Our Team?

At Hope Inspired Ministries, you’ll be at the forefront of life-changing work. Through our Recruit, Train, Employ™ model, you will play a direct role in empowering justice-involved youth to overcome barriers, gain valuable skills, and re-enter society with dignity and direction. If you’re passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of young men inside the DYS system, we invite you to apply.
