**Job Summary**
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals and specialized imaging equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring patient safety, preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all regulatory and radiation safety standards. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II collaborates with Physicians, Radiologists, and healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic imaging and high-quality patient care. This position also assists with department operations, quality control, and regulatory compliance efforts to ensure efficient and safe nuclear medicine services.

**Qualifications**
+ 2-4 years of experience performing nuclear medicine imaging procedures in a clinical or hospital setting required
+ Experience with advanced nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT and therapy applications in an acute care setting preferred
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required
+ (N) ARDMS or ARRT - Nuclear Med Tech required or
+ NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech required
+ BCLS - Basic Life Support required
**Essential Functions**
+ Performs complex nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including planar, SPECT, and therapeutic nuclear medicine studies, in accordance with physician orders and advanced department protocols.
+ Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals intravenously or orally, ensuring adherence to strict radiation safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and patient screening procedures.
+ Evaluates patient condition and clinical history prior to procedures, verifying identification, screening for contraindications, and confirming the appropriateness of the exam.
+ Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and PET scanners, ensuring image quality and system performance.
+ Conducts and documents advanced quality control (QC) testing on imaging equipment and instrumentation, maintaining compliance with NRC or state regulatory standards.
+ Ensures accurate handling, storage, transport, and disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with regulatory requirements and safety policies.
+ Recognizes abnormal physiological findings during imaging and determines when additional views or modified protocols may enhance diagnostic accuracy.
+ Provides clear and professional communication to patients and families, explaining procedures, expected outcomes, and post-procedure care, with sensitivity to patient needs.
+ Completes and verifies accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR), including radiopharmaceutical usage, imaging data, and patient interactions.
+ Participates in department operations including emergency equipment checks, supply restocking, and maintenance of a clean and organized work environment.
+ Provides guidance and informal mentoring to students, new hires, or less experienced technologists to support skill development and adherence to departmental standards.
+ Responds to radiopharmaceutical spills or exposure incidents per protocol, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting required reports.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
