The Design Engineer - Airends will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of airend components used in various manufacturing applications. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical design principles and the ability to translate complex requirements into functional designs. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness standards. Additionally, the role involves conducting simulations and tests to validate design concepts and improve existing products. Ultimately, the Design Engineer will contribute to the innovation and efficiency of our manufacturing processes, ensuring that our products remain competitive in the market.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years experience in mechanical design.
• Design work related to rotating equipment preferred.
• Proficiency in 3-D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
• Part modeling and detailing experience using 2-D and 3-D CAD.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures.
• Able to work with minimal supervision as well as efficiently schedule and manage time.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and design airend components using CAD software, ensuring adherence to industry standards and specifications using sketches and specifications.
• Develop casting designs for rotors and housings incorporating foundry and machining manufacturing requirements.
• Analyze designs using FEA and applicable calculations.
• Develop machining designs utilizing geometric tolerancing, minimizing error accumulation.
• Complete tolerance analysis of components and assemblies.
• Prepare 3-D CAD models and associated 2-D drawings.
• Organize prototype assembly and test.
• Create and maintain product design documentation including, but not limited to, drawings, bills of materials, and assembly procedures.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet production capabilities.
• Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical support during the product development lifecycle.

The required skills in mechanical design and CAD software will be utilized daily to create and refine airend components, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. Analytical skills will be essential for conducting simulations and interpreting data to inform design decisions.
