We're on the lookout for a proactive and energetic individual to join our team as a Buyer . In this role, you will be responsible for managing inventory levels, sourcing and procuring goods and materials, negotiating with suppliers, and optimizing costs to ensure smooth operations across all Nixon Power locations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and collaborates effectively across teams. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, grow, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Identify and assess potential suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and contribute to the development of supplier scorecards.
- Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and discounts to maximize cost savings.
- Determine optimal inventory levels based on demand, lead times, and total landed costs.
- Place purchase orders while ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels through demand planning and proactive ordering.
- Obtain updated pricing and estimated delivery times for parts as needed.
- Track outstanding purchase orders and follow up to ensure timely fulfillment.
- Analyze and report key performance indicators to drive improvements.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through process enhancements, alternative sourcing, and supplier negotiations.
- Apply a strong understanding of purchasing, warehousing, and inventory control best practices.
- All other duties as assigned.
What we’re looking for:
- Technical expertise in logistics operations required.
- 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or buying role strongly preferred.
- Experience with Crystal Reports and Great Plains Dynamics preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively with strong attention to detail.
