Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift and Tugger Operator
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume warehouse and adjacent manufacturing facility by safely moving, staging, and repacking materials using various types of powered industrial equipment. You will work as part of a coordinated team that operates sit-down forklifts, stand-up reach trucks, tuggers, and order pickers, while also assisting with picking, packing, sorting, and bulk repack activities to ensure production lines remain fully supplied.
Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down forklifts and stand-up reach trucks to move, load, unload, and stage pallets and materials within the warehouse.
- Operate tuggers to transport parts and materials and to stack and supply production lines with required components.
- Ensure production lines have sufficient parts and materials by monitoring inventory levels on the line and replenishing as needed.
- Perform order picking using powered equipment and, where required, manual methods to accurately select and stage products.
- Use RF scanners to scan, track, and verify inventory, shipments, and material movements throughout the facility.
- Assist with bulk repack operations, including breaking down bulk shipments and repacking parts into designated containers or configurations.
- Pick, pack, and sort materials and products according to work orders, labels, and inventory requirements.
- Handle and move heavy pallets and materials safely, using appropriate equipment and safe lifting practices.
- Support general material handling tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, organizing storage areas, and maintaining clean workspaces.
- Follow established safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines at all times to maintain a safe work environment.
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality expectations, including occasional schedule adjustments such as starting earlier, staying later, or working on Fridays when requested.
- Participate in orientation and any required training to stay current with operational processes and safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and shipping schedules and to respond to changing workload demands.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or production environment.
- Experience operating stand-up reach trucks to move and stage pallets and materials.
- Experience operating tuggers to transport materials and supply production lines.
- Ability to perform order picking using powered industrial trucks and RF scanners.
- Hands-on experience with material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, picking, packing, and sorting.
- Ability to use RF scanners for inventory tracking, verification, and documentation.
- Capability to handle heavy pallets and materials safely using appropriate equipment.
- Experience in material handling, assembly, production, or similar industrial roles.
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, with flexibility for occasional schedule changes.
- Reliability and strong attendance, with the ability to comply with a defined attendance points policy.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety and operational procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with inventory control processes in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Prior experience in general labor roles within warehouses, distribution centers, or production facilities.
- Experience with stand-up and sit-down powered equipment, including reach trucks, order pickers, and tuggers.
- Comfort working in both warehouse and on-site plant environments as workload requires.
- Willingness to rotate between material handling, repack, and general labor tasks based on production needs.
- Openness to contract-to-hire arrangements, with potential for conversion based on performance and business needs.

Work Environment
This position is based in a warehouse located adjacent to a manufacturing plant, with material handlers working both inside the warehouse and within the plant as needed. The operation runs 1st and 2nd shifts, typically Monday through Thursday, with occasional requests to start an hour early, stay an hour late, or work on Friday depending on production demands. First shift hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Team members use sit-down forklifts, stand-up reach trucks, tuggers, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other material handling equipment in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Orientation takes place on Monday mornings at 7:00 a.m. Breaks may vary with production needs, but typically include two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute paid lunch. The dress code allows jeans and t-shirts, with restrictions on leggings to support safety and professionalism on the warehouse floor.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.25/hr.
