Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead quality assurance efforts across mission-critical software projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in test automation, software validation, defect analysis, and configuration/release management. This role involves working closely with development and operations teams to ensure the delivery of secure, stable, and high-quality software solutions. An active Top Secret clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases to ensure software quality and functional accuracy.
- Perform manual and automated application testing across various environments to validate features and uncover issues.
- Identify, validate, and isolate software bugs, documenting findings in a clear and actionable manner.
- Analyze test results and communicate findings through established ticketing and defect tracking systems.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of test plans, test scripts, and test cases based on software requirements and design documents.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues and ensure defects are thoroughly resolved.
- Oversee and support configuration management, ensuring accurate version control and traceability.
- Lead and manage change management and release processes, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless deployments.
- Ensure all QA practices comply with organizational policies, standards, and security requirements.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to QA best practices and process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
- Active Top Secret clearance is required.
- Strong proficiency in writing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
- Experience with bug tracking and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Hands-on experience with configuration management, change management, and release management practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of testing within DevOps environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in secure or government environments.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with testing APIs, databases, and security features.
- Familiarity with performance and load testing tools.
