Travel RN Job Details

• Job Title: Mother/Baby Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87109 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Unit: Postpartum Couplet Care
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1580-$1620
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/12/2026)
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, as scheduled
• Floating: May float to NICU, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum units
• Scrub Color: Any (no logos)
• Unit Size: 22 beds, average daily census ~20, strong interdisciplinary support

Mother/Baby RN Qualifications

• Active NM or Compact Registered Nurse license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Mother/Baby RN or Postpartum Nurse
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred
• Experience managing 3-4 couplets per shift
• Community hospital nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to related clinical units as needed
• Availability to work scheduled weekends

Mother/Baby RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive postpartum and couplet care to mothers and newborns
• Conduct newborn assessments, cord care, and metabolic screenings
• Educate parents on discharge instructions, breastfeeding support, car seat safety, and circumcision care
• Administer medications including IV antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, and pain management therapies
• Monitor and manage postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and hypertension
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-section recovery
• Float to NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Antepartum units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
